Day #15 - The Road to Damascus

I don't remember the full story but it has something to do with Saul becoming Paul and a conversion from darkness to light.  Kevin's road to Damascus, though not Biblically so, could be considered metaphorically similar.  They left Wytheville Friday morning in a dense fog - though the weather forecast did call for brightening skies early on in the day - both were tired and sore and didn't hold out much hope for an easy ride.  Trudging through the fog during that first hour was bone chilling until the sun made it's appearance and cleared the sky.  As the day converted, spirits rose and the 60 mile ride to Damascus, VA was upbeat and, dare I say, enjoyable??
Once in Damascus they found Adventure Damascus Mountain Biking and gave their bikes a much needed tune up!  An interesting fact about Damascus is that it is referred to as Trail Town, USA.  Damascus is traversed by the Appalachian trail, the Virginia Creeper Trail, The Trans-America National Bicycle Trail, the Iron Mountain Trail, the Daniel Boone Heritage Trail, the Crooked Road Musical Heritage Trail, Virginia's Birding and Wildlife Trail, and lies within a short distance of hundreds of miles of other hiking, horse, and biking trails.  Who knew??
Saturday will be the final day in Virginia!  After nine days crossing Virginia from East to West, just 20 more miles until Tennessee!  Woo hoo!

When you're feeling down, just think of me and the fact I have to go to the Durham airport tomorrow morning.....at least you don't have to deal with the TSA at the beginning of each of your segments.....XOXO,Waterdog123
