Day #26 - The Mighty Mississippi

It took awhile but finally an area was reached where phone and internet service were restored - thank goodness!  I want to start by welcoming Jeff Gregor on board!  Jeff arrived in Jackson, MS on Monday and hit the ground running.
He looks pretty comfortable behind the wheel doesn't he?
They crossed the Mighty Mississippi via the Mississippi River Bridge in Natchez and
at the mid-point, entered Vidalia, Louisiana!
During a break along the river Jim found pecans!  Doesn't look like enough for a pie - keep picking!
In total on Tuesday 10/18/11 the crew traveled 68 miles from Natchez State Park in Mississippi to about 13 miles from Simmesport in Louisiana.  It was a difficult day with aching muscles, sore seats, rain and heavy winds but they soldiered on.  The weather forecast for Wednesday is not good.  Keep our riders in your thoughts as they tough it out through the anticipated 35+ mph head winds...

What a great trip. Our fifth graders at John M Marshall Elementary School are studying the United States and will be tracking your course and enjoying the photos. Be well and good luck to you all.

Cheers,
Johnny
