Day #8 - Washington DC

Day 8 started in Olney, MD, passed through Washington DC and ended in Lorton, VA.  A relatively "short" 60 mile day.  Hmmm... can't think of the last time I rode a mere 60 miles in one day.  Oh yeah - NEVER!
Beautiful scenery, historic sites and a pleasant ride on Rock Creek Trail and Mt. Vernon Bike Path made Day 8 enjoyable and definitely memorable. Washington DC happens to be one of my favorite cities to visit and the route took Kevin right through the heart of it.

He rode past the Washington Monument, Watergate Complex (where Kevin swore he saw Richard Nixon slinking out the back),
Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Memorial Bridge,
along the Potomac River, on to Arlington and finally Lorton.  In Lorton they set up camp at Pohick Bay Park, a campground Kevin has stayed at before.
Though personally I would have chosen to take a break and enjoy this wonderful city for another day, Kevin is moving on!  No rest for the weary!
Go West young man, Go WEST!
